FINALLY!!!

Finally! The wait is over and we finished only 4 months loner than we thought and busted through our budget. It's all in the name of the game. Couldn't be happier with the result.

FINE TUNING THE RUSTIC/MODERN LOOK

I think a old ladder and a bench might complete the look...

WORK IN PROGRESS

The framing is going up. Base trim is picked out. There's dust and dry wall everywhere. Now that it's started it couldn't be done fast enough.

ALL IN THE DETAILS

I've started pulling together some tiles and materials that I love. The only thing I knew for sure is that I wanted subway tile walls. From there, I was all over the board but I think I'm settling on these gorgeous 1" hexagon carrera marble tiles for the floor. I like that seamless and clean Euro look so it will be laid right into the walk-in shower.

For the vanity, I think I looked at over 50,000 vanities online but I kept coming back to this beautiful Restoration Hardware one that  I couldn't afford... until I started thinking outside the box. I ended up only buying the bottom and utilizing an online coupon code and am having a custom Quartz top made by our deal friend who works in the countertop industry for penny's! It really is all about who you know. Thanks Kinger!

The lighting and hardware were all bought online at misc websites. It's been Christmas at the Zimmer house the past few weeks with drains and shower heads showing up on our doorstep.

Here's some items that have been ordered. Do you see the resemblance from our inspiration photos? It's coming together!

CAN'T START WITH OUT INSPIRATION

STEP ONE: Bathroom
Here's some fantastic bathrooms done right that I used as my inspiration. I think our style is summed up as eclectic/vintage & modern and I think these bathrooms embody that design sense. I love the classic surfaces with modern details. For the next couple of months I am on the hunt for finding these looks for less (let's be real here, these bathroom probably cost $100 G's!). I think we can do it!

LET THE RENOVATION BEGIN!

So, the renovation is about to begin on our upstairs 1/2 story bedroom! We are about to embark on a month or two of chaos and destruction but hopefully in the end we can sit back and say it's all worth it. Who knows, I  might even invite you over to have a party in the new bathroom.

You can't start a renovation with out before pictures. (I actually forgot to take them until I had moved everything out already. I panicked and moved everything BACK just so I could have these pictures. A little anal, I know, but I'll be happy to have them!).

This is the image that started this all.

Featured on Parcel Post Blog

This kitchen collection I designed was featured on one of my favorite blogs, Parcel Post! The pattern was created based off some European trend our team collected. We hope it to be a great seller!

Anthropologie Trompe L'Oeil Tassel Tote

I love this! I wonder if you could make this into a DIY project buying a simple tote at JoAnne's and using a fabric pen or Sharpie?... Either way, for Anthropologie standards the real deal is relatively cheap, priced at just $28.

Beautiful Landing Pages

There's two website landing pages that I've been really drawn to that I wanted to share. I love how J.Crew uses typography to interact with the photo. It's more of a modern feel than I've seen from them in a while but it's still clean and classic.

Another one is Anthropologie... Do they do anything wrong? No. Their landing page is so dynamic with the artistic paint daubs and washed out type. They make it look so simple.

DIY Birthday Card from MaeMae Paperie

I found this birthday card design from MaeMae Paperie on one of my favorite blogs, Oh, So Beautiful Paper, that is such a great art style. It lends itself so perfect for a birthday party for a little girl, or couldn't you see this turned into a baby or wedding shower invitation? Don't miss the adorable candle pattern liner that she made using a Paper Source envelope liner template.

Visit Megan's website and blog for more examples of really great design here. Enjoy!
